Welcome to my world of horror. My name is Paul Carro, and I will be your host while you are on this page. I am an HWA author who loves all things horror.
I am a long-time fan of horror from way back when I used to write one short story per week and read them to my sixth-grade class. The stories were splatterpunk, with creative kills. This was not even English class BTW, it was social studies. But my wonderful teacher allowed the end of every Friday class for me to share the gorefest with the other students.
That may seem odd, but my teachers in the creepiest of states, Maine, supported my efforts, I guess that is what happens when your home state has Stephen King as a role model. They prefer to encourage the macabre, rather than bury it like the dead!
Eventually I left Windham for College in Amherst, Mass. where I indulged in classes at all the area colleges. I studied film and TV with a minor in literature. For my senior thesis I shot a video adaptation of a story from Twilight Zone Magazine, Preserves, by author John Cohen. Horror flick director, Rolfe Kanefsky, served as my DP on the project. This whole project came about by using the structure of Stephen King's "dollar baby" program.
That video became my calling card for Los Angeles where I have worked in TV and film since. I have recently returned to my literary roots by publishing my debut novel, Nolan Walker and the Superiors Squad, my love letter to the comic book industry. I am a CB geek as well as a horror geek. That was the warmup for my debut horror novel, The House. That seems like a long time ago but The House lives on, a fan favorite among my many novels since.
